Fence Wire

Fence wire is a fencing wire made by weaving galvanized wires into a mesh pattern, used to enclose gardens, fields and land. It is also known as wire mesh fencing, chain-link wire or woven wire; it is shipped in rolls and installed by stretching it between posts.

What Is Fence Wire?

Fence wire is a long-lasting product made with high material quality. It is produced up to 9 m in height and in the desired mesh sizes. On request, it is coated to comply with TSE (Turkish Standards Institution) norms and to the specified galvanizing (zinc) values.

Corrosion is the loss of a metal's properties as a result of electrochemical reactions with its environment; it is commonly known as rusting. Corrosion damages a product's durability, reduces its quality and shortens its service life. Thanks to galvanic coating, the wires we produce are not affected by corrosion. The zinc amount on hot-dip galvanized fence wire can be adjusted on request.

Fence Wire Sizes and Technical Specifications

How to Choose Wire Thickness and Mesh Size

Two measurements determine fence wire performance. As wire thickness increases, the mesh becomes stronger and heavier. As mesh size decreases, more wire is used in the same area; the mesh tightens and passage through it becomes harder. The most preferred thickness for garden and compound enclosures is 2.50 mm; it provides adequate strength while keeping enough flexibility to stretch evenly between posts.

Fence Wire Application Areas

  • Parks and gardens
  • House, villa and compound enclosures
  • Field and land boundaries
  • Sports complexes
  • Steel construction sites
  • Airports and private security zones

How Is Fence Wire Installed?

  1. Measure the line length; divide it by 20 m to find the number of rolls.
  2. Place the posts at equal intervals. Support the post with a brace at corners, start and end points.
  3. Run tension wire along the top, middle and bottom lines of the mesh; these wires prevent sagging.
  4. Fasten the mesh to the tension wires and posts with galvanized tie wire.

The post most commonly used with fence wire is the concrete post; post types and sizes are on its product page.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is fence wire?

Fence wire is an economical fencing wire made by weaving galvanized wires into a mesh, used to enclose gardens, fields and land. It is shipped in rolls and installed by stretching it between posts.

Are galvanized chain-link wire and fence wire the same product?

Yes; products commonly called chain-link wire, fence wire, wire fencing or woven wire belong to the same product family. Galvanic coating protects the wire against rust and extends its life. See our galvanized chain-link wire article for details.

What heights is fence wire produced in?

We produce from 50 cm up to 9 m. The most common choice is the 100–200 cm range; different heights and mesh sizes can be produced according to the project.

What is the difference between fence wire and panel fence?

Fence wire is woven from 2–3.5 mm wire and stretched between posts, while panel fence is a rigid panel spot-welded from 4–6 mm wire and attached to posts with clips. Fence wire stands out for long and tall lines, while panel fence is preferred where a neat, modern look is required.

What determines fence wire prices?

Wire thickness, mesh size, height and coating type determine the price. Send us your length to get a current quote from the manufacturer.
